Baby Cousins
These sweet babies are my husband’s cousin’s twins. I’m still trying to figure out what that makes them to us and our kids. I know it’s some kind of cousin, but are they 2nd cousins or 1st cousins once removed? I don’t know. What I do know is they are super cute! I never thought much about what it means to be a twin for babies. I guess I figured they weren’t aware enough of their environment for it to mean anything that they had a womb-mate. So it was especially sweet to me to notice how at peace they seemed when they close to each other. It makes complete sense that they are used to being close to each other and that is how they feel most comfortable, but it was just so amazing to see the connection they have.
I’m so happy for their Mommy and Daddy! They are such great parents. I so much enjoyed watching them enjoy their babies. I don’t envy the double duty they have, but they sure seem to have it down! And I can not believe how great mom looked after carrying twins! It was great to see them. I had a wonderful visit:-)
Hiatus
My photography business is going on hiatus. Don’t worry if you’ve already booked your session I’m going to finish the last couple sessions I have booked for this year. Starting in January I will be on hiatus for at least 2 months to evaluate how doing this work is affecting my family life. I do love taking pictures and it’s great to love what you do, but I’m not sure if it’s right for my family right now. I need to, as my husband would say, “perform a cost/benefit analysis” to see if this is worth doing the way I’ve been doing it. I’m so grateful to you all for your support through this adventure of mine.
Family Fun
This kid is a bundle of energy. He was so fun. He ran, he jumped, he climbed in trees, he threw leaves…I have no idea how his parents keep up with him every day! He was so cute though- all smiles and not because I was asking him to smile. No, he was just having fun. What a cutie!

The bond C’s parents have with him is truly amazing. I loved watching their interactions. One of the games he liked playing was to go to this tree and run into his mommy or daddy’s arms. Here he is running to his mom.

Then he jumps into her arms and they share a huge hug. So huge they fall to the ground in laughter. This is one of my very favorite pictures of the day. I love how it captures their sweet relationship.

And we can’t forget a big hug for Daddy, too!

Family Portraits
I am so blessed to get to work with such great families! This weekend was no exception. This family is great and they really have fun together. Boy oh boy does Mom know her kids. She told me her littlest one would only last about an hour and she was right on the money. The funny thing is he didn’t fuss or throw a fit, no he just closed his eyes so we couldn’t get a good picture. He still had a giant smile on his face, but his eyes were closed. That is one smart kid! I mean you can get a kid who won’t smile to laugh, but getting a kid open his eyes, that proved be a little tricky. LOL. He cracked me up! A few fruit snacks and getting to go home and see his dog put a the pep back in his step though and he even opened his eyes for me:-)
And those boys? They love their mom. They wanted so badly for her to have the picture she wanted. They smiled the biggest smiles for the longest time I’ve ever seen. Their cheeks must have hurt by the end. The older brother was especially intent on smiling the whole time. What a cutie!
I just love this family, they are so sweet!
From Bump to Baby
It’s really fun to take a look back on a maternity session when the baby is born- for me anyway.
Newborn Baby J
Baby J. was amazing. She is quite possibly the most chill baby I’ve ever met. She slept just about the whole time I was at her house. Not to mention how adorable she is, just look at that face! What a perfect addition to a great family!

I hope you all enjoy you sneak peek. Your pictures will be ready very soon.

Okay this picture didn’t fit well in my blog it board, but I couldn’t resist spending the extra time to post it because I LOVE it so much. So much for my better time management

Something Had to Give
Okay, it’s truth telling time. I have been terrible at keeping up with my blog. I’ve had lots of other things on my plate and not enough time to do it all. My priorities in my business are giving the customer great service and pictures that they love in as timely a manner as I am able. That sometimes means things like the blog get neglected. I’ve had several sessions that I simply didn’t blog. I’ve been working on figuring out a good work flow and I’m glad to say that I think I’m on the cusp of a new day. I’ve figured some things out and I recently acquired some new tools that will help me get things done just as well, but faster. I’m excited to start using them. One you may have noticed is my Blog It Boards from MCP Actions (yes I only have the free ones- for now, anyway).
Why am I telling you this? Well, I was discussing locations with a client and I told her I had done a couple sessions at one of the places we were thinking about using. She asked to see some of the pictures so she could get an idea what it would be like. Imagine my surprise when I went to look on my blog for some pictures of the location we were discussing and discovered I hadn’t blogged any of them. Ugh! Both sessions I shot there were maternity sessions and both babies have been born. The clients got their proofs a long time ago, so it’s not so bad- I guess. I also put some of the shots on my Facebook fan page, so they did get their sneak peeks. I do feel kinda bad that they didn’t get their blog time, but they don’t seem any worse off for it;-) Plus they are gonna get some blog time right now- LOL.

More tomorrow…my husband is just looking way too cute over on the sofa. I’m going to go spend some time with him now:-)
Baby Caycay
Here are some photos of the most recent addition to our family. My cousin’s baby. What does that make her? My 2nd cousin, 1st cousin once removed? I don’t know, but I do know she’s a cutie!

She won’t hold her position as newest for long…I’ve got another 2nd cousin 1st cousin once removed cousin coming in October. I can’t wait to take pictures of him, too:-)
Cute Little Baby E.
This weekend I had the pleasure of doing portraits of this sweet little girl. She was so cute and full of smiles. I even got to witness her crawling forward for the first time!

I hope you enjoy your sneak peek! I had a great time with you guys.
The E. Family
Okay, so I love this family. They are kind, fun and they have the cutest daughter. During our session she was very concerned that I feel included. We went for a walk in the woods to get a few shots. If I dropped back to take a picture she would look back at me and say, “Jen, come on!” It was super sweet. The way she was talking made it hard to believe she’s only 2 years old. She’s going to be a great big sister in a few months!

I already knew they were awesome people because we know each other from church. Usually I see them separately, so it was fun to see them all together. I’m not sure if knowing them personally made the session easier or harder;-) I guess it doesn’t matter since I had a good time either way. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek, guys!
